FOODY Day in Kuching

Well.. There's nothing much to do in Kuching, plus I only had a few days here. And so, what I could do was to indulge in Kuching's food!
On my 2nd day in Kuching, I had breakfast with George and his parents at Carpenter Street. I did not notice what was the name of the shop, but it was the shop opposite to the old Noodles Descendants shop at Bishop Gate. They still serve homemade noodles with the QQ texture, unlike the normal kolo mee. This explains why the shop is always so crowded. The noodles can be served together with beef or lamb or minced pork.
Minced pork and Beef Noodles.
Minced pork and Mutton Noodles. I had this. I do not know why mine was dryer as compared to theirs. Kind of disappointed as George's mum was like highly recommending this.
After breakfast, we went to Spring for a walk as we had planned for a movie. We enjoyed watching Taken 2. It's really a good movie like the first series. Cool detective skills! George brought me for Ice Kacang after movie. We wanted to have the one at Riverside, but unfortunately it's closed. Anyway, it's closed most of the time. X(
So, we headed to Swee Kang at Jalan Haji Taha.
Our ABCs with Coconut Milk (left) and Evaporated Milk (right) respectively + some fried stuffs.
My ABC with Evaporated Milk. YUM YUM!!!
After a short tea break, we were off to Swinburne as George had lots of assignments to complete. Sia Chia dapao another dessert for us.
Japanese Mocha Pudding topped with glutinous balls, Q jelly & red beans. It's from Cha T, Emporium. Quite nice actually.
As for our dinner, we wanted to celebrate our anniversary in advance. Our initial plan was to have a dinner at Rock Road Seafood, but then I changed my mind to Hilton's Steakhouse. However, I found out that the promotion of having 3-course meal at RM75++ per person was unavailable that night and would resume the following day. George actually made reservations for the night, but I felt stupid if we go for the dinner which would be cheaper the next day. After some thoughts, I finally decided to go for Merdeka Palace's Italian Buffet. I had longed to try out their buffet. Upon entering the hotel, we had to drove up to the carpark in which the road was sooooo narrow. DANGEROUS! And as a reminder, the 1st hour of parking costs RM4.00 and every subsequent hour at RM1.00. Quite pricey ha~~

Now, we are in the dining area. Oh ya.. The restaurant is called Ristorante Beccari. Very ITALIAN name.. :)
The busy Ang Mo Chef kept preparing our food to ensure we have enough and the pizzas were freshly prepared by him from time to time
Our first round!
Lamb and Smokey Chicken with three types of sauces: Mushroom, Black Pepper and White Sauces. NICE!
Pizzassss~~ Mozarella Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza and Homemade Pizza. I personally like the Pepperoni Pizza most. All the pizzas served are thin-crust. The skin is so crispy!
Appetizers. I like to recommend the bread with chicken patty.. Awesome!
Salads. So many types that I couldn't afford to remember their names. I could only remember there's one with blue cheese and I like the cold duck!
Main Dishes: Braised Lamb Shank, Beef Lasagna, Gratin Potatoes, Mixed Grill of chicken wings, beef and lamb, Sausages, Mixed Vege, Fish Fillet. All of them tasted GREAT!!!
Dono what was this but it's nice. It had some butter and olive on top of the bread slice which gave it a slight spicy taste.
Some photoshoot before the dinner. :D
That's the hungry me with all our food.
Have to show you this. The pizza oven!
Pasta is something not to be missed out in Italian cuisine. So does Ristorante Beccari. They have a variety of pasta like fettucini, linguine, spaghetti, penne etc. for you to select. Beyond that, you can also choose from a variety of sauces available like bolognese, white sauce, carbonara and so on. Then, the cook will cook the spaghetti for you in your desired sauce. For my first round on pasta, I opt for the white sauce. OMG!! It's damn creamy and cheesy.. LOVE it so much. It really tasted heavenly. Then, I also tried with carbonara sauce. It was good also. Bacons were served along in generous amounts, but it's not as rich as what I preferred in white sauce.
Penne in Carbonara Sauce
After a few rounds of food like pizzas, gratin potatoes and the meats, I finally sampled the desserts. I would never miss out this in buffets. :D
Lots of appetizing cakes. I really hoped I could have more but I was too full and my stomach was so bloated that I had to skip ice creams. Sad case.
I had a great day! A night to be remembered!
