Groupon Deal from Western Gallery

Opened since end of year 2012, Western Gallery located at Pending was known by me to serve cheap Western Cuisines which are available for lunch and also dinner. I wanted to try a couple of times, but it's always closed. Was delighted when I saw their offer in Groupon. However, 1 thing I dislike about Groupon Food & Drinks Deals is that they always require bookings. =.=
Ok, so I made my bookings earlier to avoid any disappointments. Upon reaching, there were no other customers, so we just sit wherever we intended. Different from other western dining outlets, they have their kitchen in front and we could view their cooking. The shop is an open place, so we sat nearer to outside as it was kinda warm. Just RM11.25/person, we had a bowl of Creamy Mushroom Soup each and we could choose our main courses from a selection of Chicken, Beef, Fish, Pork or Lamb. All main courses were served with coleslaw and fries.
Creamy Mushroom Soup with Bun (RM3.90 value). Not bad.
I ordered an extra plate of Grilled Chicken Salad (RM5 - RM6 of not mistaken). Nice!
Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce (RM18.90 value).
Grilled Lamb in Black Pepper Sauce (RM13.90 value).
Australian Sirloin Steak in Mushroom Sauce (RM18.90 value).
All the foods here were quite ok. Maybe not very exquisite. However, in my personal opinion, it's reasonable for that price and portion.

New menu @ Gourmet Sausage

Gourmet Sausage offered this very good Groupon value deal again! Never fail to buy the deals from Gourmet as the food they served were good and they always give very attractive offer. This time, the deal is for a group of 4 in which we could select from Lamb Chop Rice, Pork Chop Rice, Chicken Chop Rice or Double Pork Burger. In each rice set, the grilled "chops" were served with rice, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, sausage and fried egg.
Lamb Chop Rice (RM17.90).
Pork Chop Rice (RM15.90).
Chicken Chop Rice (RM14.90).
Double Pork Burger (RM12.90). Served with fries.
All the dishes were great. For the rice set, pork chop rice was the most recommended one. As usual, their pork burgers never fail to disappoint us. Yummy! I guessed they are good in making pork-dishes. All these were only sold at RM35 in the Groupon Deal! Worth it, isn't it?

Howdy's Groupon Offer

Being attracted to the Howdy Grillhouse's All-You-Can-Eat Pasta + Free Flow of Mushroom Soup, I bought the Groupon Deal for 2 at RM36 without further hesitation. Imagine buffet at RM18 per person. So cheap~ In our deal, we got to choose from Sausage and mushroom pasta (RM16.80 value), Enchiladas pasta (RM16.80 value), Alfredo pasta (RM15.80 value), Bolognese pasta (RM15.80 value) and Meatball pasta (RM14.80 value). We tried every single one of the pastas except the Bolognese pasta as George was never a fan of it.

So, first came our mushroom soups (RM7.80 value) which we had a bowl each and OMG!! This was SOOOO GOOD!!! The soup was very rich and creamy, topped with fragrantly pan-seared bacon slices. We were really impressed with it and George said:"I guessed we have another must-order dish on our next visit to Howdy." LOL!
Creamy Mushroom Soup
The pastas were all very good as well especially the Sausage and Mushroom Pasta and Alfredo Pasta as we love creamy-based pastas! Both tasted similarly except that Alfredo was much richer in taste and fragrant due to the bacon added. Meatball Pasta was actually something like Bolognese Pasta as both are prepared in tomato-based sauce. Just that Howdy prepares their very own Special Pork Meatballs to replace minced beef in the Bolognese Pasta. Howdy really takes the effort to serve their customers great food as they eventually prepare the fresh and delicious tomato-based sauce. George who was not fond of the usual tomato-based sauce found their sauce acceptable and he just loved the Pork Meatballs!  Being kind of full after 3 pastas, I still wanted to order  the Enchiladas Pasta as we never try or even heard of it before. It was kind of special. Topped with ground beef, it was stirred in mildly spiced Enchiladas chili sauce. I find it quite alright, but I would not be having that again. Not because it's not good, but the rest beats it!
Sausage and mushroom pasta. Served with bratwurst sausages and button mushrooms in cream-based sauce.
Yummy! I'm hungry now!!
Meatball pasta. Special Howdy pork meatballs in tomato-based sauce.
Huge meatballs!!
Alfredo pasta. In creamy-based sauce, the fettucine was served with bacon and mushrooms.
So so rich and creamy!!
Enchiladas pasta. Pasta in mildly spicy green chili enchiladas sauce served with minced beef.

We had been to Howdy a couple of times for its great meaty cuisines, but we never try out the sides and pastas varieties. I must say this deal introduced us greater choices of delicious food in Howdy! Be back for more~~ =P~

Groupon Deal from Gourmet Sausage

Gourmet Sausage is one of the popular Western Restaurants in Brighton Square. I bought this Groupon Offer at RM55 in which we could choose 4 main dishes from 2-Lost-Pigs, Gourmet Sausage and the Ultimate Pork Burger. Upon that, we were given a set of Dinosaur Wings Bucket.
M&M Milkshake. I like!
Dinosaur Wings Bucket. The deep-fried chicken wings were covered in sweet and spicy sauce. Nice!
Gourmet Sausage. Jumbo sausage with fire-grilled bacon, served with mashed potatoes and salad. The sausage was really nice, wrapped in the fragrantly grilled bacon and covered with their homemade special meat sauce.
Ultimate Pork Burger. Burger with bacon, cheese, ham, tomatoes, onion and fried egg, served with fries. You will not regret ordering this burger!
2-Lost-Pigs. One hot dog comprising pork sausage served with meat sauce and the other was bacon-wrapped. This was really a huge portion~ Both tasted great. The hot-dog bun used was spread with butter and nicely baked that gives the crunchy texture at each bite.

Past Manhattan Fish Market's Groupon Deal

Well.. If you check it out, the dishes here came from the deal from Manhattan Fish Market offered in Groupon months ago. I know I'm kinda late, but it's never too late to introduce good food yay..? Hehe~
The deal was on the Giant Fried Platter Set Meal with Drinks for 2pax (RM49).
Gummy Bear for our drinks. Looks weird to me at first due to the color, but it was surprisingly so frizzy and refreshing.
Garden Salad. A light appetizer to fill our tummy first as we were going to wait long for our main course.
Garlic Herb Mussels. This was good. The mussels were not overcooked and flooded with the creamy, tasty garlic herbs sauce.
Garlic Bread
Creamy Mushroom Penne which we ordered as an extra dish. Very nice too. Sauteed in fresh mushrooms, it was milky and will make you ask for more!
Giant Fried Platter. As the name goes, it's GIANT! With garlic rice beneath, the platter consisted of deep-fried fish cutlets, prawns, calamari, country mushrooms chips and also some vege.
Are you sure this deal is for 2? We came in 3 and ordered just an extra dish of penne, but was unable to finish the garlic rice and chips. Definitely worth trying!

Groupon Offer @ US Pizza, Greenlane

Bought this Groupon voucher for RM19 which I could get a large 13" hand-tossed crust pizza and 4 pieces of garlic twist breads. I went with my friends as the offer was meant for 4 persons. Cheap, isn't it? There were 2 US Pizza outlets in Penang. We went to the one at Island Glades, Greenlane as it was nearer to our training center.
New York feel??
2 Indian kids enjoying their pizza. Say cheese~~ :) I was actually trying to snap a photo of the counter and the boy happened to look my way.
Garlic Twist Breads
Forgotten what we chose. Wonder was it Italian Way without beef pepperoni cos Wen Yin doesn't take beef. There were chicken pepperoni, chicken ham, onions, mushrooms, green peppers topped on the cheesy crust. Quite nice I would say.

Laos Cafe @ Komtar Walk

This was my first attempt in Penang's Western Restaurant. I was there with Wen Yin, Bernard and Alvin as we bought the Groupon voucher for 4 pax.
Outlook of the Cafe
Some photos of the interior design of the place:
Comfortable and clean.
They have a stage set-up. There are times when they have live bands to entertain the customers.
Bar

Ok. Here comes our meal.
For drinks, we had free-flow Iced Lemon Tea. Most of us had our drinks refilled thrice. Bernard had his refilled quince. He rushed to the toilet immediately after our dinner. LOL!

Mushroom Soup.
For our main course, we can choose for grilled Norman Salmon or Chicken Chop or Pork Chop. All of us had salmons except Wen Yin who went for chicken.
Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes, corn and some sides. It was nice. I like the mashed potatoes especially. Very smooth and rich. The salmon was well cooked and the skin was very crispy. Delicious!
Wen Yin's Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce. Looked very tempting too! According to her, this was quite nice too.
Lastly came our desserts. We were served with Strawberry Ice Cream and Green Tea Mochi per person. Love the Mochi. Best mochi I had tasted before! Anyway, I seldom have mochis. HAHA~~
That's the end of our dinner. Imagine all these costed us RM12 only. Definitely worth the value. :D

Fats Burnt or Consumed??

Woke up very early in the morning and stuck in traffic jam to get to Reservoir Park for jogging.
Photo of me jogging.. :P
There was a collapsed tree that blocked the jogging path. Must be due to the heavy rainstorm on Monday.

Check out the heavy rain on Monday. Floods caused just by an hour of rain.
Poor car stuck in the flood
People were unlucky to get stuck in traffic jams and road block caused by the flood, but I was so lucky that I happened to bump into the ERA FM crew giving out Tropicana Twister drinks.

Back to my jogging. I was there for an hour, but did not do much jogging. Instead, I was strolling around. Then, we were off for briyani ayam and roti canai for breakfast. =p~

At night, we visited another new cafe at Brighton Square, known as Playground. It is situated just below U-Garden Crystal Grill & Steamboat. For your information, it's another Groupon offer.
This was the deal and I bought the deal for 2 pax.
We had the option to choose lamb chop, chicken chop or fish & chips. We ordered for chicken chop and fish & chips as I was told that the lamb chop is served in a very small portion (which was not true when I saw orders from other tables).
Soft lighting for a romantic ambience
Orange Juice
Chicken Chop
Fish & Chips
The food portions were just normal. As for the taste, the chicken chop was just ok, but the chicken was not that fresh. As for the deep-fried fish, I think that it was ok, but it does not taste like those Fish & Chips served in other restaurants in which the skin is very crispy. Instead, the skin was more chewy. If you ask me, I would not revisit this place.

As the dinner was not very satisfying, we headed to McDonald to try out the new McFlurry.  ♥ it.. But a little bit too sweet for me cos of the chocolate syrup added. GOSH~~ I sound so choosy about food.
