Pullman Weekend High-Tea Buffet

Delighted to be invited by Pullman Kuching to their newly launched Weekend High-Tea Buffet at Puzzle Restaurant. Available on every Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm, every adult would just have to pay RM42+ to enjoy the wide spread of food choices especially DESSERTS~~
First of all is the spot for appetizers. This tray here has some ingredients for you to make your own Rojak.

Up next is some greens in which you can make salad of your choice with the variety of salad pastes available.

And of course, they have some pre-mix salads like pasta salad, fruit salad and coleslaw.

I find this part of the salad station much more appetizing and delicious. There are beef sausage salad, chicken lyoner salad. Probably because I prefer meaty dishes. :D

They also serve soups like mushroom soup and chicken soup. I only tried the mushroom soup.

Some spring rolls, curry puffs, fried dim sums and quiche lorraine maybe?

Only tried this as the rest are not my type of food. Quite nice but it would be better if it's just out from the oven.

Noodle station where you can order Laksa or Kolo Mee with the ingredients you want from the chef working live. They have chicken shreds, prawns, fish balls, eggs etc.

Moving on to the main dishes. Having served in front are the turkey ham croissant and mini tuna burgers. I have tried the croissants before which were lovely, so I tried the mini burgers.

Top left: Deep-fried chicken
Top right: Deep-fried fish fingers
Bottom left: Grilled beef in herbs sauce (yummy and tender)
Bottom right: Beef embedded in bread (forgotten the name)

Left: Penne (slurpsss)
Middle: Curry chicken
Right: Fried beehoon

Left: Assam fish (had a lot of this)
Middle: Chicken sausage in pesto sauce (delicious too)
Right: Deep-fried squid

Okay... Finally to the desserts corner! I must say all of them were awesome!

Muffins

Left: Mocha cheese cake
Right: Marble cheese cake
Both the cakes were damn rich and smooth!

Left: Strawberry slice cake
Right: Chocolate fudge

Melting chocolate in the puff! So good that I had a couple of this. The sweet chocolate sauce is well balanced when taken along with the puff.

Donuts

Chocolate cakes which it's so difficult to resist!

Tarts. On the left is cheese tart and fruit tart on the right.

Some macarons, cookies to add on the calories. The macaron was good. Weren't too sweet.

Fruits as an healthy option.

They also serve shaved ice desserts in which we are free to pick our own ingredients. In local, we call it ABC. Besides that, there are also 3 other prepared desserts like chilled watermelon in coconut milk, red bean soup and green bean soup.

Well, I did not try everything there. I took one round first, seeing what they offer and with the hell lots of desserts, I restricted myself to less main dishes in order to cater more desserts. Haha.
Here's my 1st round.

2nd plate and more to go...

Third one!

Desserts!

Laksa with prawns and beehoon only. Served really hot which was great. Taste-wise, it wasn't really my liking, but George said it was good.

George 1st plate.

We actually had moreeeee than this but I was busy eating and forgotten everything about photo-taking. Instead of high-tea, it's a great lunch buffet we had!

Haza Cafe

Couldn't recall when was my visit to Haza Cafe! Definitely quite some time. Located at Rubber Road area, a few shoplots next to After 4. This was our 1st visit there. Operated by a Malay family, we were welcomed and served by the warm and friendly crew. Being attracted by the pies upon entering, so got a slice of beef pie.
Beef pie. Yummy! They have chicken pie and mix beef and chicken as well.
Mushroom soup.

Served with a plate of *free* local Kek Lapis made by the "mum", who was claimed to be one of Hilton Kuching's chef. Definitely up to standard.
Papi pan-seared imported fish fillet. My type of dish~

Papi pan-seared chicken chop. Deliciously cooked as well.
Dishes here were all quite good. Just that portion might be a little bit small. xP

John's Pie @ Swinburne Sarawak

It was a Saturday afternoon and George wanted to complete his assignment, so I followed him to Swinburne. John's Pie has an outlet there, so we went there to have a quick lunch.
Chicken Cheese Pie (RM5.50). I requested to have it served hot and so the staff there microwave it. Served in a short while.
Banana Pie (RM2.50). Was recommended to try their new stuff. It was quite good. :)

Look at the cheesy, juicy fillings. Well.. Before this, I wasn't really impressed with the pies here, but this pie prove me wrong. I guess I have to request my pies to be served hot in order to enjoy it. Don't like them to be cold.
I opened up the upper crust. Can see all the fillings. Yummeh~

KL Food Hunt #10: Tong Kee Food Corporation

2nd day in KL! Woke up not that early as most shops are not open so early here. Once done, the 1st stop we head to was to Tong Kee. Having claimed to produce one of th best egg tarts in Malaysia, we shall see then.
The place is not far from our stay.

Being as a bakery store, they do not sell only egg tarts thou. Lots of confectionary products.

Cheese cake. Yummeh~ Being served cool, the melt-in-the mouth texture along with the good ol cheesy taste~~ missed this!

They have 2 types of egg tarts served. This is the Portugese Egg Tart.
While this is the Butter Egg Tart which I prefer. It would be better if served hot. Love the wobbly egg custard.
Well.. My personal verdict is that Kuching's Chong Chon Biscuit Maker's egg tarts are still the best. :D

Ipoh Food Hunt #2: Hong Kee Confectionary

As we are not going to come back to Ipoh again, we decided or actually is me who decided to get all the good foods first.
It is claimed that this Hong Kee Confectionary is one place which sells one of the best egg tarts in Malaysia, so let's see. I'm an egg tart lover! Unfortunately,  it was finished already. :( 😣 So sad. .. Had to grab whatever was left then.

Got ourselves the remaining few Siew Pau available
. Had it in the car. Quite nice. Not losing to the famous Seremban Sio Bau i must say. I will definitely come back again to get the egg tarts next time. Hopefully luck is with me the next round.
