Ipoh Food Hunt #3: Funny Mountain Tau Fu Fah (奇峰豆腐花)

After we took away the siew pao, it's time for some light and traditional dessert. Funny Mountain! Yea! That's the name of the shop. Very famous in Ipoh for its Soy Beancurd (Tau Fu Fah) and also Soya Bean drink.
Well.. A short queue was apparently required.
So, I just took a short walk to the famous Sin Eng Heong for baked items. They were also claimed to produce good egg tarts. Can't fail to gwt egg tarts yay~ Unfortunately,  it was so crowded too! (As shown in pic) No luck with egg tarts I guess.
So back to Funny Mountain. Some people had it on the spot, but we just dapao.
Silky smooth tau fu fah! Taste-wise was similar to Kuching's local soya beancurd. Organic and natural tasting.

Ipoh Food Hunt #2: Hong Kee Confectionary

As we are not going to come back to Ipoh again, we decided or actually is me who decided to get all the good foods first.
It is claimed that this Hong Kee Confectionary is one place which sells one of the best egg tarts in Malaysia, so let's see. I'm an egg tart lover! Unfortunately,  it was finished already. :( 😣 So sad. .. Had to grab whatever was left then.

Got ourselves the remaining few Siew Pau available
. Had it in the car. Quite nice. Not losing to the famous Seremban Sio Bau i must say. I will definitely come back again to get the egg tarts next time. Hopefully luck is with me the next round.

Ipoh Food Hunt #1: Ming Court Dim Sum

Left the Golden Valley Hotel as early as 630am in order to be in time for Dim Sum breakfast in Ipoh town. It took us about 3 hrs to get there from Melaka. We tried the famous Foh San Dim Sum before and this time, we planned to try out Ming Court which is located just opposite Foh San. Ming Court is a more popular choice among the locals, whereas Foh San is more touristy due to its grand outlook.

We parked just next to the block where Ming Court is situated.

SO SO SO CROWDED!!
Our first round of Dim Sum selection!
Lots of varieties including steamed, fried etc.

All the dim sums we enjoyed for that morning. All tasted awesome! Best dim sum place I had been to so far.

Bean Sprouts Chicken (Nga Choi Kai) @ Restoran Onn Kee, Ipoh

Another Ipoh's famous local cuisine would be Bean Sprouts Chicken 芽菜鸡 or rather known as
Nga Choi Kai in Cantonese. Right after our Ipoh White Coffee, we headed immediately for this Tauge Ayam. There are plenty of places offering this dish and Restoran Onn Kee is one of the recommended ones.
Big Signboard which you could barely miss it at Jalan Yau Tet Sin.
Inside the air-conditioned shop. This place was so famous that lots of celebrities were spotted here including the famous Hong Kong star, Raymond Lam 林峰! He was here twice. Their photos were attached on the wall (good way to promote)~
Our orders for 4 pax. Steamed chicken, bean sprouts with fish balls and meat balls soup.
The chicken was juicy and tender. But honestly speaking, I could have good steamed chicken rice in Kuching too.
Closer view of the big, fat and crunchy bean sprouts.
Our meal costed us around RM25. Reasonable I guess~

Ipoh White Coffee @ Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong

How can we miss the Ipoh's ever famous White Coffee?! Our next stop was getting the most authentic White Coffee instead of having the commercialized packets form of Ipoh's White Coffee in the supermarket. Sin Yoon Loong was said to serve the most original Ipoh White Coffee, so we just waze~~ our way to the place. As we had to reserve our tummies for more food later, we just ordered Ipoh's White Coffee. At first thought, I expected the coffee to be "white", but then, that's not the fact!
Iced Ipoh White Coffee
Hot Ipoh White Coffee. The difference between Iced and Hot was that the hot one appeared to be richer and sweeter. Probably the ice diluted the coffee. The coffee had very strong nice cocoa aroma, but it was a little bit too sweet for me I would say.
Caramel Custard. I mentioned earlier that we did not plan to order anything else besides the White Coffee, but the tamjiak me could not resist the Caramel Custard which seemed very interesting and tasty. Did not regret ordering it, but again, it's too sweet to my liking. It's very soft, smooth and eggy. Being chilled, making it a good dessert. :)

Perak Cave Temple

Before we could hunt for more Ipoh's famous food, we had to allow some food digestion first. To aid in our digestion process, we searched for Ipoh's places of interest and what we got was all the caves. Thus, we decided to head to the famous tourists' attraction: Perak Cave Temple (霹雳洞). Spotted lots of limestone along our way and Perak Cave is one of the limestone caves.
Upon reaching the temple, there's a brief description and history on Perak Cave Temple, printed on this rock.
Parking spaces available.
Entrance into the temple

Some of the huge drawings on the wall. Am impressed of how they manage to paint on those slanted walls.
Statues in the temple
More photos of us :p

Looking down~

HAHA!! Ty looked so innocent.
They are such a cute, sweet and interactive couple.. :D
We did not reach the top as we were not in our proper attire. That's enough and lazy Ty claimed that his Dim Sums we had in Foh San's had been digested. >.< Alright then. Stay tuned for our next foodie destination! :)
