Melaka Food Hunt #8: Capitol Satay Celup

Initially planned to go to Menara Taming Sari to enjoy the view of Melaka up ahead in the sky, but when we came across Capitol Satay Celup, we eventually spotted people started queing. I tot it stated that business starts at 5pm?? Seemed like it started earlier. Probably cos it's on weekend. So, to avoid longer queues later in the evening, we hopped down and follow the trend since we already planned to have it later.

Look at the queue! We were quite up ahead thou.
Looking at how people enjoy their meal.
I must say it was very very hot and sweaty evening.
After a long wait of 1 hr despite that we were quite ahead of the queue, we finally got a spot.

All the foods we could enjoy for just RM1 each.
Some of what we took.
Preparing the satay sauce for us. Adding all their special ingredients to yield a very rich satay sauce. They add the sauce from time to time when it is running out.

Dipping our foods into the prepared satay sauce. It's like having steamboat in satay sauce instead of the normal broth we usually have.
Frankly speaking, we all think that Kuching's Lok-Lok tasted much better and there's no need to wait.

Melaka Food Hunt #7: Baba Charlie Nyonya Cake

It was about 300pm in the afternoon, having nothing to do after eating at Hing Loong, we decided to hunt for authentic Nyonya Kueh. Before this, I came across blogs recommending Baba Charlie Nyonya Cake for serving one of the best Nyonya delights in Melaka. Being aware that the place would be close at 4pm, we seek for this hidden treasure. Although there is a signboard outside, we did not notice it as there are 2 alleys heading to the place and we went straight into the 1st one before seeing the sign. As we were not sure of the place, we eventually seek for directions from the neighbor who happened to be gardening while we walked inside. Felt stupid when we saw the close distance of Baba Charlie's house to the exit of the 2nd alley. It was so darn HOT!!
So here's the place!
They have the kuihs placed inside and we just have to pick what we like. Seemed that lots were finished as we were quite late.
Types of Nyonya Kueh for reference. We had Kuih Bingka Ubi, Rempah Udang, Kuih Kochi Putih, Nyonya Kuih Chang, Kuih Portugal Ubi, Kuih Talam, Kuih Lapis, Pulut Seri Kaya, Kuih Koo Hitam, Curry Puff and Apam Bekua. All the kuihs tasted so good to me. Best ever Nyonya Kuihs!!
They also had a couple of kuihs placed outside where people also make their payments here. For your information, they also do supplying to lots of kuih stores around Melaka.

Melaka Food Hunt #6: Hing Loong Taiwanese Noodle @ Jalan Bachang

Waited for Charles and Kevin to get back from collecting Kevin's bike in the hotel, we immediately find our way to have Pork Noodles as recommended by both Ah Hui and Taw Yang. From their signboard, it seemed that their signature dish should be Taiwanese Beef Noodles, but they actually recommend Pork Chop Noodles. Nevertheless, we tried everything. :D

Packed with locals! This place is a less touristy spot as you have to reach here by car.
Spicy Beef (RM4.30).
Pork Chop (RM2.80).
Spicy Beef with Soup (RM4.50).
Pork Trotter (RM2.80).
Beef Noodle (RM4.80).
Pork Chop Noodle (RM4.40).
U know what? Everything tasted very delicious! Both the pork and beef dishes were awesome. If you are a spicy food lover, try the spicy beef soup! The deep-fried pork chop was so fragrant and crispy, but careful cos it's really hot when served. This is a really must-visit food outlet in Melaka!

Golden Valley Hotel

The hotel for our 2nd night in Melaka was Golden Valley Hotel. Being new, the hotel was rather pleasant and comfortable although situated in a quiet block of shop lot.

Melaka Food Hunt #5: Sun May Hiong 新味香 Pork Satay

Right after Chicken Rice for breakfast, we headed straight to Sun May Hiong for pork satay! It was not difficult to locate the place with the "Waze" app.
The place is normally very packed and crowded. Luckily the crowd had not started yet that morning. To cater for big crowds, they started "peng"-ing the satay early.

Pork on fire!
Here came our satay! Mix of pork innards as well. These Hainanese Pork Satay has pork lard cubes in between. Different from the sweet pork satay we have in Kuching, these satay was salty in taste and what made it even better was the satay sauce. Blended pineapple was added! Yumm! The sauce definitely stands out from all the satay sauce I had before as I seldom have my satay dipped in satay sauce cos I just like the sweet taste of the satay we normally have.
Kinda clean way of preparing their foods.
