Foochow Specialties @ Plaza Merdeka Food Court

Did not know what to have for dinner, so ended up trying the Special Mee from the Foochow Specialties store at the Plaza Merdeka's Food Court.
Special Mee (RM6.00). Cantonese Mee with added Tomato Sauce. So, it has a taste of mix salty, sour and sweet. LOL! Edible la... Haha! But I like the spongy and chewy noodles. It's unlike the normal yellow noodles used.

Laksa Special @ Top 1 Food Court, Ang Cheng Ho

Top 1 Food Court's Laksa stall sells one of my favorite Laksa in town! Operated by an old Aunty with the help from her daughter, they have been selling Laksa for decades and still maintain her standard. She prepares her gravy herself early in the morning and set off to the Food Court to deliver her specialty to the public since morning till her Laksa is sold out and that could be as early as 1030am.
Laksa Special (RM6.00). With Special, you get to enjoy Chicken Thigh with the savory Laksa gravy. Tasty!

Tien Hsia Lai Cafe 天下来

Located at 3rd Mile, near to the Public Bank or just next to the Police Station, the coffee shop has been around for quite some time, but we never try the food there as it seems rather dark (meaning unclean) from the outside. But Hey! As the saying goes, do not judge the book by its cover. In this dimmed cafe, you get to have a variety of Kuching foods ranging from Chinese to Malay Cuisines.
Mee Goreng. Very fragrantly stir-fried!
Mee Jawa. Tasted good as well! One of the good ones I had.
Wanton Kueh Teow with Pork Liver. Not bad too.
I must say the foods here are all quite up to standard and prices are reasonable. They sell Roti Kahwins, half-boiled eggs, laksa etc. So, try it out yourself! :)

Mooncakes from Hilton KL

2 weeks ago, I attended a function in Hilton KL and came across the eye-catching mooncakes sold at the lobby. Although the Mooncake Festival is more than a month from now, they already start promoting their chef's specialty, which are the Snow Skin Series (RM20 each).
Flower Drum 喜庆紫花鼓 - Snow skin lotus paste with soft custard egg yolk.
Blue Moon 冰皮蓝莓芝士玉环 - Snow skin Amaretto lotus paste with blueberry cheese Feuillantine. Rather special as blueberry cheese was embedded within the lotus paste.

Yellow Moon 月亮代表我的心 - Snow skin Violet flower essence & chocolate center with brandy flavored lotus paste. You can sense a mild chocolate taste at each bite with a bit of brandy flavor.
Baked Pandan with Single Yolk 单黄金翡翠 (RM20). Very fragrant pandan paste. Mooncakes just couldn't go wrong with yolks. :D
There are other choices available, priced differently at RM18 or RM20 (excluding 6% government tax). Every purchase of 4 mooncakes came with a beautiful box and it was great for us, travelers, to take home. One problem with the Snow Series Mooncakes is that it must be kept cool. Luckily our journey home was just abt 3-4 hours from hotel.

When cakes lovers meet

I have a bunch of sweet-tooth friends like me!! It's always great to meet up, chit-chat while enjoying some delicious desserts. Cafe Chat @ Pullman Kuching is one of our top in our dessert list. Hehe.. Ordered a few pieces to satisfy our cravings. =p~
White Forest Cake. Yummy yummy yummy!!
Chill Yogurt Cheesecake.
Strawberry Infinite. Layers of cake with strawberry-flavored jelly in between. Not very recommended as it was kinda artificial.
Mango Tango
Caramel Macchiato. Tasty cocoa cheesecake. Creamy and so smooth.
