Kuching Breakfast @ Choon Hui Cafe

Breakfast in Kuching can't run away from foods like Laksa, Kolo Mee, Kueh Chap etc. Brought my non-Kuching friends to Choon Hui Cafe, just next to Grand Continental Hotel.
Chicken Porridge.
Popiah. Yummy!!

Half-boiled eggs.
Roti with Kaya
Laksa. The laksa here is famous but expensive.

Best BBQ Chicken Wing @ Teh Tarik Kafeteria

I had mentioned before that one of the best BBQ chicken wings I had was at Matang. Now, the coffee shop is not available but relocated to the shoplot on the opposite side of the Matang Bridge of Kubah Ria. Along your way from town to Matang, Kubah Ria would be on your left, the shop lot would be on your right. Frequent road drivers will know about the place as the shop lot is located at the small roundabout when getting back to town from Matang.

Our orders from the BBQ stall:
BBQ Chicken Butts (RM1.00 per stick). Although marinaded with the same Chicken Wings Sauce, the taste didn't really coat well or infuse into it. I still the best I had was in Penang
BBQ Chicken Wings (RM2.50 per wing). So so delicious! Sweetly marinaded wings with tolerable spiciness. Even my friends who do not take spicy food also could not stop themselves from having this!
Apart from BBQ Chicken Wings and Butts, there are other varieties of Malay Cuisines like Laksa, Satay, Ayam Penyet etc.
Rojak India. Tasted just ok.
Mee Sapi. Worth trying. :)

Thai food @ A-Wet, 4th Mile

Sawadee Krap! :D
A-Wet Thai is a new arising place offering Thai dishes. Heard many good comments abt the foods, so, being as a food lover, I shall try! Driving your way to Boulevard, A-Wet Thai can be easily seen on the right before reaching Boulevard Mall at 4th Mile.

Reaching around 7pm. Crowded!
With some recommendations from the Tauke, we came about ordering 4 dishes.
Pineapple Fried Rice (RM10.00)
Red Tom Yam Seafood (RM20.00). Sour and spicy! Served similarly like what I used to have in Penang.
Cold Bidin with Sotong (RM10.00). Another sour and spicy dish! Tasted great. Loves the fresh Sotong.
Som Tham with Squid (RM15.00).  Green Papaya Salad with fresh squids and topped with peanuts. Guess what? It's also sour and spicy. LOL!
I conclude that we had sour and spicy Thai dishes for the night and every dish came with squids~~ My parents blame me for putting their cholesterol levels at risk. HAHA!

Huan Loke Cafe, Padungan

Well.. I guessed I would never step into this old shop, Huan Loke Cafe if it wasn't due to the recommendation from someone in Kuching Food Critic Group. I always walked past the cafe as it is just located at the corner old shop lot next to Tun Jugah Mall.
Offering fast food as well. That's the attractive part of it, cos I can add any fast food ingredients to my Kolo Mee.
Kolo Mee with Ngo Hiang. Not bad!
Kolo Mee with 3 Layer Pork. Sui!
Price wise~~ Costed abt RM13 for these 2 bowls with a cup of Iced Coffee.

Dessert time with Mum @ ZenQ

As I mentioned in my previous post I will be back, so here I am again! This time was with my mum, so I allowed her to do the toppings selection.
Grass Jelly Series - Choose Your Own ZenQ (RM7.50). Chosen the Mashed Taros, Q Yuans and Ice Cream. As it's from the Grass Jelly Series, grass jelly is a given toppings and we had soy milk as our snow ice base. Slurppss~~ So will I be back for more?? Stay tuned!! Hehe~~

Sweet Dessert 甜记

There had been lots of desserts outlets popping up in Kuching since I left for Penang. Sweet Dessert 甜记 is one of them, located in a cosy corner at Jalan Padungan.
Egg Tart (RM1.50 each). Rather small, but nice.
Some snacks to bite on before indulging our cold desserts.
Durian Pancake (RM8). With bits of durian flesh embedded in the chewy glutinous pancake skin, this snack is served cold.
Mango Pancake (RM8). Similar to the durian pancake, mangoes were contained in the pancake. This was much flavorful than the durian pancake.
Mango Pamelo Sago (RM10). Wondering how did it taste like~~ Not my order, but my friend said it was served in coconut milk, so I guessed it should be quite nice.
Durian & Thai Black Glutinous Rice (RM10). Highly recommended by my friends, so I gave it a try. Rather nice due to the strong durian taste. A bite of durian and the glutinous rice together makes the dessert wonderful. :)
Apart from serving snacks and desserts, the place also serve some dishes to fill up your tummy like Stir-fried Beehoon, Kueh Teow etc.
