Second visit to Korean Food @ Jalan Song

Well.. After our first visit, it seems that this place become our regular place for reasonably priced good Korean food. :D George and I were actually planning to go with our friends as we could have more choices to try out. Ended up having dinner with his parents. They let us, the youngsters to decide on what to have from the menu, and these were what we had:
Pork BBQ (RM30). Having this pork platter again. We had to grill the pork slices ourselves this time as they were lacking of skilled staffs that know how to grill. Nvm. We have Chef George. Hehe~ As yummy as before! :)
Beef Bulgogi Jeongol (RM40). We thought that this was supposed to be the usual Beef Bulgogi which is grilled to perfection in marinade sauce. However, this turned out to be soupy type. Using another hot stove, everything was cooked and mixed together in the soup. Not our likings. Cannot blame them as we did not ask and when I googled the term, well, it does mean Korean BBQ Beef Soup. >.<
Kimchi Soup (RM8). Erm.. I think this was just ok.
Bibimbab (RM12). Very delicious. With the mix vegetables, fried egg and sufficient amount of the Guchujang (sweet red pepper paste), the mix rice was just awesome. George's mum eventually classify this as Korean Rojak. LOL!
Chicken ham kim bab (RM15). Time to try out Korean's style of Sushi. Unlike Japanese Sushi, this sushi roll was huge and stuffed with lots of veges. Chicken ham was added as an extra. Well~ I just like it. Very filling thou.
We were so so full~ Burpp!!

Korean Food, Jalan Song Trying Out Session

Been wanting to try this authentic Korean food here after much raving abt the good food and cheap price as compared to other Korean foods outlets. Located on the outer section of One Jaya Shopping Mall, just opposite Porkies, this little dining outlet is operated by a Korean lady who does all the cooking. We were there quite a couple of times, but we either failed to grab a table or the store is not open. Finally, George and I managed to dine in on this fine Saturday night when the night is still young. They also expanded their dining area to allocate more tables and seats. Flipping through the menu and based on my memories on the recommended foods here, we finally came out on what to have.

First, we were served with their homemade side dishes of the day.
The side dishes served and also dipping sauces for the Pork BBQ later.
Tofu
Kimchi of cos! So spicy yet couldn't stop myself from having more.
Kimchi Fried Pancake (RM8). Pan fried omelette with loaded Kimchis. As spicy as it looks! Very fragrant and I just love it thou it was a bit oily.
Ddukboki (RM10). Well~ Thou not as good as what I had in Korea, but it was nice. Sweeter in taste due to the red chili sauce used, this dish was very filling as there were fish cakes and rice cakes with cabbages. Koreana's Ddukboki was good too, but the rice cakes here were fresher.
So, with George around, we should not fail to have Pork BBQ (RM30). It was recommended to cater 2-3 persons. So, this should be enough for both of us. They have this Korean BBQ stove placed on our table and it was great to have their staff to grill the pork for us. We get to see the grilling process as well and it was awesome to see the oil dripping out from the stove. Everything seemed healthier and "thinner". :)
Grilling in process. Evenly cooked pork bellies.
Finally done grilling the pork slices. It was delicious and crispy some more! I find it nice to dip the grilled meats with a little bit of the salty soy bean paste provided (black sauce shown in the 1st pic). Next was to stir fry the mushrooms and veges with the remaining bits of pork lard on the stove which gave extra fragrance to the veges.
Thou the place may not look as classy, decent and comfortable, but this does not set back people from getting good foods!

Celebrating George's Birthday @ Koreana

It's George's birthday and I promised him a dinner. Without thinking hard, he requested to try out Koreana where he could have his Korean Grill experience. As in Korea, we were served with refillable side dishes in Koreana.
Side Dishes - Kimchi (both cabbage and radish), clams, bean sprouts, braised lotus roots, seasoned vege and of cos fresh lettuce to go with the grill meats. I personally love the clams and lotus roots and kept requesting for more. Hehe~
Samgebsal BBQ (RM36-small). BBQ 3 layer pork!! George's favorite. LOL!
Grilling in process!
Almost done~~ Love it!
Duk Bok Gi (RM21). I still remember these rice cakes I had back during my Korea Trip. So spicy, chewy and steaming hot. Great dish to have on a cold day. The one we had in Koreana was not too bad, but the rice cake had some sort of taste which I think was not that fresh thou. Very filling dish.
Bulgogi (RM38 - small). Very nice beef pieces served! Went extremely great with rice. Yummy!!!
Really full and satisfying dinner!!
Surprised him with a small Red Velvet Cupcake from Lovey Dovey Cupcakes. Delicious. Very moist and ain't too sweet. The cream cheese frosting on top was just the right amount. Luckily it's just a small piece of cupcake. Too full~ Burppp~~

Korean grill @ Fusion Grill

Located at Brighton Square, Fusion Grill has been around for some time, but never had the chance to visit. It's named Fusion Grill as they serve different types of cuisines like Western and Korean. We were there that night as we wanted to try Korean grill. When we arrived, we were brought by the friendly waitress to their one-and-only seating on the 2nd floor (as if we booked the place for romantic dining). LOL! One thing troublesome was we had to take off our shoes.

Zaigle Fusion Grill - Large (RM78). The platter which we ordered. We were expecting to grill it ourselves, but they actually did that for us. George was a lil bit disappointed cos he wanted to experience the grilling process.
Nice combinations we had to go along with the side dishes to be wrapped in lettuce. A combination of chilled pork belly, beef kalbi, German sausages and some mushrooms.
Banchan (side dishes) available - Kimchi, shredded carrot strips and mushrooms.
Mashed Potatoes (RM6). Quite good.
I must say I enjoyed our dinner here. Will be back for other dishes. :D

CNY 3rd Day

It's our last day in KL and so, we decided not to stick around Bukit Bintang area. We took the free shuttle bus (Go-KL City Bus) from Starhill/Pavilion to KLCC. There are 2 lines - purple and green lines. We were supposed to take the green line, but ended up in a tour around KL city. HAHA! The buses were the same and we did not notice which line we were in and just hopped into the bus without asking. >.<

Reaching KLCC safely and "finally", we did not spend much time there and got onto the train to Mid Valley Megamall. First thing we did: Hunting for food!
Durian Pancake from Sumptuous Dessert (RM12 for 6). Many were raving about this yummy durian flesh embedded pancake, so I must try! It was really good!!! Love it!!! True and tasty durian flesh was used with a little bit of cream inside. This was so so so much better yet cheaper than my purchase back in Kuching from a Facebook dealer. Must get it again next time!
YUM YUM!!
We went for Korean food at one of the outlets at The Gardens' food court - Food Gardens.
The set that we ordered. Forgotten what was it. Something like Tom Yam seafood soup.

Side dishes given.
During the CNY, The Gardens also did not fail to set up some CNY decorations around and many were taking their sweet time to snapshot with all these old and classical decors. So did we! Hehe~

Next stop, DESSERTS again!! Yeah! Went around hunting for Delectable by Su and finally found it.

I like their tissue paper.
Jaffa Macadamia Cake (RM12). Quite alright.
After some shopping or to be exactly correct - window shopping, it's time for dinner again. We went to Dragon-i and ta-da, these were what we got:
Shanghainese Steamed Meat Dumplings 上海小笼包 (RM10.30). Delicious! The oozing out soup~~
Cold Pig Shank with Jelly Fish 燻蹄拌海蜇 (RM16). Well~ I like this! First try on cold pork dishes. Tasty~
Pomelo Mango Sago Cream (RM9). Nice mix of pomelo with lots of mangoes.
Beijing Dumplings 北京芹菜水饺 (RM9)
Tasted some sort like the 小笼包. Nice too!

End of my trip in KL! Was back to Kuching with lots of New Year visiting! Enjoyed lots of CNY foodies! Hehe~

CNY Day 2

Continuing on my KL vacation during CNY~
As usual, we woke up for breakfast at our hotel then headed for shopping and shopping just can't go far from Bukit Bintang Area.
Happy Chinese New Year!!
Our 1st stop was H&M. Then, we had lunch at Lot 10 Hutong.
Tempted by the awesome looking Moonlight Koay Teow (RM9.90) from Kim Lian Kee, we did not hesitate to give it a try. Not bad la~ Be sure to queue up for some time although they were quite fast in cooking.
Off to Pavilion again after lunch.

Some lion dance performances were going on and it's so crowded. They said that KL is very quiet during CNY, but it's not true from what I experienced thou.
Desserts is something not to be missed. 许留山 Hui Lau Shan is my spot for dessert-tasting. It's claimed to be a popular dessert franchise in Hong Kong especially for their mango desserts. We had to queue before being seated. Then, we were being given the menu to choose what we want and mark on their menu list. After checking and making sure our orders were correct, we waited patiently for our desserts!! :P~

Herbal Jelly with Apple in Osmanthus Jelly (RM4.90). Not my liking. Kinda bitter.

To try on the various desserts available, we went for the 3 Courses Mix & Match (RM12.90)

From the 9 choices thr, we'd chosen Mini Mango Coconut, Mango Chewy Ball and Mini Mango Crisp.
Mango Crisp. Icy chewed cake crisp with mangoes embedded. Delicious!!
Mango Chewy Ball. Iced cool mango dessert with mango pieces and chewy glutinous-tasting balls. Refreshing!
Mango Coconut. Mango Ice Cream topped together with mango pieces and coconut strips.
Time to cash out~
Look at the Q
Some more CNY decorations!

Long day of shopping must be ended with a great dinner before getting back to hotel. :D
Off we went to the famous Bar-BQ Plaza, located at Sungai Wang Plaza. Our order was easy. Just got ourselves the Family Set and that's it.

Ready for some Korean BBQ folks~
Given with pork lard which I insisted not wanting to use it. :P
Seasonings
Garlic Rice or White Rice to go along.
So here came our sets.
Seafood, mushrooms, squids, chicken slices, avocado, udon and of cos lots of cabbages which we cooked them in the water-filled side of the grilling plate.
Another plate of meat - beef, lamb and pork to really grill on. Given with lots of veges as well.
Great dinner for just RM78.20 including green teas and coke for drinks, towel and taxes!!
