Pullman Dim Sum Buffet

Priced at RM28+ per person, this Dim Sum Unlimited "All You Can Eat" buffet is definitely worth the value. Always wanted to try out the dim sums in Nv Er Hong, Pullman Hotel and finally had the chance to try out this reputable hotel standard dim sums. Came along with my whole gang of friends and we really ordered a lot. 

Steamed Duo-Textures Chee Cheong Fun. With deep-fried Chinese Crullers or rather known as You Char Kueh/You Tiao in this Hong Kong style Chee Cheong Fun instead of meats, it was something new but we did not quite like it.  

Soft BBQ Honey Chicken Bun. Love this sweet roasted chicken in the hot steaming soft pau! Lost count of how many I had. :)

Deep-fried Beancurd Skin with Chicken & Prawn. Those who love deep-fried stuffs love this dish!

Deep-fried Crispy Yam Taro. The taro was smooth, outer skin was crispy, but it tasted rather odd (seemed like oil used was not so fresh).

Glutinous Rice with Chicken. Yummeh~~ Fragrant rice with chunky pieces of tender chicken slices,

Pan sear Shanghai Dumplings.

Vegetable Spring Roll. Damn crispy. I'm not quite a fan of deep-fried stuff, but it tasted rather good thou.

Deep-fried Sesame Ball. Tot that it was good, but.....

The red bean filling was too little. Unable to balance with the thick chewy outer skin.

Custard Bun "Liew Sha Bao". This was really really really FANTASTIC!!!! Oozing out custard!!! Gosh~

Phoenix Claw with Black Bean Sauce. Nicely stewed Chicken Feet!

Crystal Prawn Dumpling. Crunchy, big and fresh prawns used! Delicious!

Beancurd Roll with Thai Sauce. Okok la~

Steamed Chicken Cheong Fun. This was good as compared to the Duo-Texture one as the chicken meat was sweet and flavorful and it was deliciously served in the soft Cheong Fun accompanied with the Sambal Sauce.

Baked mini egg tart. Average, can be improved.

Pan-fried radish cake with shrimp Hong Kong style. Quite good.

Baked BBQ Chicken Pie. This was very delicious as well! Sweet savory BBQ Chicken in the crunchy-layered baked skin.

Pan-sear Radish Cake.

Pan-sear Chicken Bun with Vegetable.  Not too bad.

Chicken Congee with Century Egg. Serving hot, the congee was smooth and richly added with bits of century egg and chicken meat.

Homemade fish ball with fragrant garlic.

"Teochew" style Prawn Chicken Dumpling with Chives.

Pudding of the day - Santan flavored. Very soft with thick santan used. 

Dessert of the day - Cheng T'ng (forgot to take photo of it). It was rather good.

The dim sums here are decent and one of the good ones you could find in Kuching. Most important, it is Halal. :) Will definitely come back again if I have the chance.

Variety Food Cafe

Not sure whether many are aware of this Variety Food Cafe or not, but it is always quite packed. It's located at the corner shoplot, just opposite The Spring Shopping Mall, next to ST3 Shopping Mall. This cafe might not gain its popularity yet, but there's one Chicken Rice shop named Alex's Chicken Rice surely did. Selling chicken rice for the whole day, Alex, the owner, definitely stock lots and lots of chicken, both fried and steamed. For his fried chicken rice, it's not just plain Fried Chicken, but Alex prepares a variety of sauces - Thai, Salad and Honey Lemon to go along with his crispy chicken.

Fried Chicken Rice (RM5). For just RM5, this was really a generous amount. Not to mention his crispy and tasty chicken meat, nicely covered with the sweet and spicy Thai sauce I opt for.

In Variety Food Cafe, not only chicken rice was sold of cos. As the name goes, "Variety" means having choices. There are also Malay Cuisines, Toast Sets and so on.

There are a lot more of great food, but this stall has moved to the Shanizam's Kafeteria just next door to the other side of Spoon Cafe. 

OK3 Kopitiam Dim Sum Galore

I always like to try out new food and so, for breakfast option, dim sum is something which you can enjoy a couple of different food choices. However, it's kinda fattening, so I don't always go for it. Back to OK3 Kopitiam, this time bringing George. 

After some surveying, George ordered this - chicken, char sio and crispy roasted pork rice set (RM8 if not mistaken). For this portion, I think it was quite worth it. Furthermore, it's quite tasty! :)

Ok.. My turn to hunt for food. And haha~~ George was shocked to see me coming back with trays of dim sums! LOL! We first saw the couple behind ordering a lot and just commented about it. And I came back even more!! He was totally stunted! HAHAHAHA!

The Lo Mai Gai and Custard Yolk Bun were good. The rest were just ok la.. 

Char Siew Pau @ Sin Kwang Heng, Open Air Market

No idea where to get Char Siew Pau? One of my favourite would be from Sin Kwang Heng @ Open Air Market. Sin Kwang Heng is very famous in Kuching for their Sio Bee. Yes.. They used to be very delicious, but it seemed that the quality and flavor deteriorated lately. But, their Char Siew Pau is still very good!

Char Siew Pau (RM1.40). Very tasty sweet BBQ pork inside the soft and fluffy mantou. Taste awesome when it's hot. Too bad that the filling was a bit too little. :P

4.5 Mile Roadside Pau

If you passed by 4th mile from 3rd mile Roundabout after 130pm to 2pm, you will notice this stall on your left and cars would be seen crowded around there. So what's so special abt the place which attracts people coming to this rugged-looking place? 

It's their PAU!! They have Char Sio Pau, Meat Pau, Vegetable Pau. Besides, they also sell Sio Bee and Homemade Soya Bean Drink. You can dine there or have it take-away which many did.

I had the Vegetable Pau (RM1.20).

Generously stuffed with fragrantly stir-fried shredded vegetables, mushrooms and artificial meats. Very delicious!!

Korea Trip Day 3

We started our 3rd day even earlier as we had to catch a morning flight back to Seoul Gimpo Airport, taking T'way Airlines. Breakfast was not as luxurious as yesterday's. We were taken to 富豪, which we had dinner on our first night, to have abalone porridge. The abalone pieces were in small bits, so I did not take any photo of. We were also served with complimentary dim sums of steamed dumplings and soft pau.

Once we got to Seoul, we were brought for lunch first, having 春川炒雞排.

春川炒雞排. Stir-frying process. A mix of mainly chicken pieces, rice cake and cabbage.

The way we were taught to eat. Wrapped in lettuce including the side dishes provided and their sauce. Yummy!

Done with eating it with fresh lettuce, another method to enjoy the dish was to add in rice and some seaweed slices and tadaa~ Here came the fried rice! Very nice too!

1st Destination: Nami Island 南怡島Completed our lunch, we were ready to take off to the famous Nami Island 南怡島 where shots of the famous drama, "Winter Sonata 冬季恋歌" was taken. To get to Nami Island, we had to get on board a ~15mins ferry ride.

Upon reaching, there were many nicely designed signboards and shops.

So, here we were! At the famous Winter Sonata's filming spot!

2nd Destination: 春川明洞

After Nami Island, we headed to 春川明洞, in which the first stall we encountered was the famous Fat Mama Fruits House 胖阿姨水果店. She was there to greet us. However, her painful leg prevented her from entertaining us, so her daughter did all the servings. Served us with delicious fresh fruits like strawberries and pears. The dried persimmon was very good too. We bought the dried persimmons packets as souvenirs and one big packet of strawberries (20,000 KRW).

Carried on with some shopping at the street with the help of some bargaining from our tourist guide and we bought a ear cover for just 3,000 KRW, which would cost around RM10. In Kuching, the cheapest we could get I think would be RM30 and the quality would not be that good. Visiting a nearby bakery store next to 胖阿姨水果店, we were buying some pastries which we found them tempting.

Got this (1,500 to 2,000 KRW) as we were told that this was their hottest-selling item. Very soft baked bun with red bean and chewy custard inside. Yum yum!

3rd Destination: 大浦巷海鲜市场 

It was cold and dark despite it's only 6pm, so we just took a short time to walk around. The stalls were distributed into 2 buildings, selling wet and fresh seafood, and cooked food.

Off next we were taken for dinner.

Our dining place, but we were not seated here. Instead we were having dinner on the other corner with chairs.

Done with a big tummy, we headed straight to our hotel at Sorak - Daemyung Sorak Resort.

We were given rooms with korean sleep on the floor. Looks like a house to me as there is a dining place with stoves etc.

What I did first when we got back to the hotel. ENJOYING STRAWBERRIES!

After settling down, we walked our way to the hotel's grocery store. Here I was hunting for snacks. :P

Got myself ice cream again. Almond Pistachio Flavor Ice Cream (~1,000 KRW). Tasted weird. >.<

Done for our 3rd day! Time for bed, sleeping in korean style tonight on the warm heated floor! :D
