Rising Ramen 雷神

Rising Ramen 雷神 suddenly gains its fame lately as being able to offer good authentic Japanese Ramen in Kuching, served and cooked by real Japanese. Located in the housing area behind Absolute Tribal Restaurant at Sarakraf Pavilion, Jalan Tabuan, near to Basaga, it was not easy to get our car parked especially with the big crowd heading for their ramens.

Operating in a house where you make your orders and make payment outside. Seats were available indoor and outdoor. They actually provide Japanese Language tuition classes, which they later turned it into a dining spot.
AKA Ramen Special (RM17). Spicy Japanese Pork Broth Noodle Soup (RM11) with extra ChaSiu (RM5) and Egg Topping (RM1). Very strong aroma of pork broth with the chewy ramen, The Ramen Egg was cooked in the perfect manner which tasted different from normal hard-boiled egg. The extra spice added made the dish slightly spicy from the normal ones.
Ramen (RM11). Japanese Pork Broth Noodle Soup (RM10) with Egg Topping (RM1). I preferred the original one rather than the one with added spicy chilli bomb actually. But both were good.
Big slices of Japanese Char Siu
Gyoza (RM8). Minced Pork Dumplings being pan-fried. This dish was disappointing as the skin was too soft. It should be crispy, shouldn't it?
Aburi Sushi (RM10). Broiled Salmon Nigiri Sushi topped with Rising Sauce and Japanese Mayo. Felt that it was kinda pricey, but it tasted delicious.
Lion King Roll (RM10). Served with a slice of Salmon on top, the sushi roll consisted crab stick and cucumber inside. We were surprised when it was served hot as the normal sushis we had were always served cold. With the delicious Japanese Mayo, the dish was surprisingly good. Something different from other Japanese restaurants.

They have actually moved their business location to Jalan Song, opposite SCR, behind Watson. As I mentioned earlier, the parking spaces were limited and the road was always very crowded, so I guessed this was the reason they relocate.

Celebration with Japanese Food @ Ten Ichi Japanese Restaurant

Well~ We had a secret celebration on going, so after some thoughts on where to dine, finally agreed by my parents to have Japanese Cuisine at Ten Ichi Japanese Restaurant, operated by Lok Thian Group.
Refillable Green Tea (RM2.80/person)
Sashimi Salmon (RM9/2 slices). Very fresh~
Niku Tataki (RM20). Japanese cooking style of beef~ This dish was very delicious. The beef slices were tender and tastily cooked in the soya sauce.
Ten Ichi Ramen (RM18). Dad had this. Served hot and I think it tasted ok.
Hiyashi Chuka (RM16). I recommended this dish to my mum but she did not like it cos the noodles were served cold. Exchanged with my dad in the end. Haha~ I like it thou. Very appetizing.
Avocado Unagi Maki (RM14). This was really good!. The avocade went well together with the sweetened unagi, embedded in the sushi rice and seaweed roll. We enjoyed this alot.
Nabeyaki Udon (RM18). Tempted by the runny eggs, my udon soup was served hot with chicken chunks, Tempura and some other ingredients.
Chawan Mushi (RM7/cup). Just ok la.
Salmon Pizza (RM24). I'm always a fan of Okonomoyaki. Plus, they have salmon meat added for this dish, so I ordered one to try. Turned up that my parents disliked it and I had to finish quite a lot. Still, I think Tomoe's version is the best so far for me.
Big Japanese feast!! Satisfied!! :D

Trying out the best Japanese Ramen in Kuching @ Sando Ramen, ST3

Been always wanting to try out Sando Ramen as people claimed that you can get the best Ramen here in Kuching. Being able to survive in ST3 Mall since opening isn't something easy, so I guess their business is ok. Lately, they have this Supermain Deal offer and this serves the right time for me to purchase and try out!
As we arrived, I was like "Hmm~ Nice place". They have all these lanterns hanging around . Located at the ground floor, just straight ahead from entering the main door. I never explore ST3 Mall, so kinda Sua Ku.. :P

Ok.. Now moving to the foods there. In our deal, we could get 1 Japanese Sando Ramen  + 1 Japanese Style Rice + Lobster Tofu + Potato Kuroge + Edamane for just RM 30.
First served with their Mix Chuka Set consisting of hotate, idako, wakame and potatoes salad. Yummeh~
Edamame (RM 4.90).
Lobster Tofu (RM6.90). Very crispy outer skin but soft tofu inside! Served hot after deep-frying and topped with mayonnaise and roes.
Potato Korokke (RM6.90). Tasted something like hash browns. Nice too!
We were supposed to be given the options to choose from Kimchi/Garlic/Char Siew Fried Rice, but they did not have the Kimchi Fried Rice. So, decided to try the Garlic Fried Rice (RM7). Very fragrant and delicious. My mum loved this the most.
Original Tokotsu Ramen (RM18.90). I had chosen the original flavor of the ramen out from original/spicy/shoyu/garlic as I saw people's recommendation on the original flavor. In this Sando original tonkotsu ramen, we were served with ramen of cos, pork char siew slice, omega tamaga (perfect ramen eggs!), fish cake, bamboo shoot, kikurage and spring onions. The broth was really rich as it was boiled from pork bone, fat, meat and other ingredients which made it so creamy and flavorful!
Pan Fried Gyoza (RM9.90). This was an extra dish which we ordered out from the menu. Tasted quite ok with this chicken -filled dumplings. Just kinda oily to my liking.
The foods here were rather tasty. Would try out others next time as they have quite a variety of choices especially the Ramens!
