Astana Grilled Burger & Satay

Astana Grilled Burger is one of the famous burger stalls in Kuching. It is operated by Malays, so it's Halal. Operating the business at their house along Jalan Astana, they allocated a little outdoor dining area for customers to enjoy their homemade grilled burgers. Selling a couple of different types of burgers, we opt for the Overload Chicken Grilled Burger (RM 7.50). As I had some difficulties in biting, so I only had the chicken meat and had it like having western cuisine. >.<

Chicken meat with an extra slice of pineapple added with extra charge. Quite nice. :)
Our main purpose here was actually to have the satays from the neighbors as our friends said it was good. Like Astana Grilled Burger, they also set up dining spot at their garden, so we just walked over to grab some satays!
Got ourselves Lamb, Beef and Chicken!
Huge lamb chunks on the skewer (RM1.00 each). Delicious, but have a definite amount of fats.
Chicken Satay (RM0.50 each). Nice too!
Beef Satay (RM0.50 each). Love this the most. The meat was tender, not too chewy for me to munch.

Gim's Burger!

What was our initial plan for the night already??? Well~ I only remembered coming down from Summer Mall, turning around Samarahan shoplots for foods and ended up finding nothing. Then, we wanted to go somewhere which was close that night, so we got our burger cravings fixed by heading to Gim's Burger. After looking at the brief menu on board, we decided to have The Cranburger and Cheezor Beef Burger.
The Cranburger (RM11.90). Crinkle fries was served together. What  made this good was the cranberry sauce used which was slightly sweet in taste. Chicken breast was used and topped with a slice of pineapple, cheese lettuce, tomato slice and fried onions. I opt for charcoal bun which required another add-on of RM0.50. Not bad la, but wasn't very overwhelmed. I love the most was the fries. It was mixed with herbs, kinda different in taste. :)

Cheezor Beef Burger (RM14.90). For the beef patty option, we selected Cheezor Beef Burger for the extra cheezy taste and bacon slice. Look at the melting cheese.. Yum yum~ The patty was ok, like the usual patty we always have. It's quite thick thou.
The burgers here were just ok in my personal opinion. Fries were excellent! Price is on the higher side.

Variety Food Cafe

Not sure whether many are aware of this Variety Food Cafe or not, but it is always quite packed. It's located at the corner shoplot, just opposite The Spring Shopping Mall, next to ST3 Shopping Mall. This cafe might not gain its popularity yet, but there's one Chicken Rice shop named Alex's Chicken Rice surely did. Selling chicken rice for the whole day, Alex, the owner, definitely stock lots and lots of chicken, both fried and steamed. For his fried chicken rice, it's not just plain Fried Chicken, but Alex prepares a variety of sauces - Thai, Salad and Honey Lemon to go along with his crispy chicken.
Fried Chicken Rice (RM5). For just RM5, this was really a generous amount. Not to mention his crispy and tasty chicken meat, nicely covered with the sweet and spicy Thai sauce I opt for.
In Variety Food Cafe, not only chicken rice was sold of cos. As the name goes, "Variety" means having choices. There are also Malay Cuisines, Toast Sets and so on.
Cheese, Egg and Ham Bun. Looks good.
Minced Meat on Tortilla (forgotten the price).
There are a lot more of great food, but this stall has moved to the Shanizam's Kafeteria just next door to the other side of Spoon Cafe.

New menu @ Gourmet Sausage

Gourmet Sausage offered this very good Groupon value deal again! Never fail to buy the deals from Gourmet as the food they served were good and they always give very attractive offer. This time, the deal is for a group of 4 in which we could select from Lamb Chop Rice, Pork Chop Rice, Chicken Chop Rice or Double Pork Burger. In each rice set, the grilled "chops" were served with rice, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, sausage and fried egg.
Lamb Chop Rice (RM17.90).
Pork Chop Rice (RM15.90).
Chicken Chop Rice (RM14.90).
Double Pork Burger (RM12.90). Served with fries.
All the dishes were great. For the rice set, pork chop rice was the most recommended one. As usual, their pork burgers never fail to disappoint us. Yummy! I guessed they are good in making pork-dishes. All these were only sold at RM35 in the Groupon Deal! Worth it, isn't it?

Cheat meal @ Coffee Talk

I am into clean diet lately due to my workout plans. I am kinda obsessed with lean and trimmed abs, so had been going on strict workout meals to make my gym efforts unwasted. However, that's not everyday! How could a food lover like me stick to really clean food everyday?! Every week, I'm praying for the coming of weekends as I can eat whatever I crave for. People normally have a cheat meal per week, but I have 2 cheat days, not including parties or dinners I have to attend during weekdays. LOL!

Well~ It's not weekend today, but we just went straight to Coffee Talk for Kuching's nominated best pizza - Tom's Pizza and best burger - Pig's Barn, right after our gym session. Forget all about clean food and mumm mumm mumm! Honestly speaking, this was my first try despite all the great recommendations from people. Coffee Talk is located at Stutong, very near to our gym and we always passed by and I always wonder when will I make a visit here. Finally!

Hawaiian Pizza (RM20.00). With turkey hams, cheese and pineapples topped on the crispy oven-baked thin crust pizza. It definitely is the best thin crust pizza in Kuching. I would like more cheese thou. Maybe next time I will try the cheese pizza.

Black Devil (RM8.00). Chosen Pork Patty (mustard seared) instead of beef. Filled with Bacon, Cheese, Pickled Jalapeno, Gherkins, Horseradish Sauce, on Charcoal Bun.
Look at the delicious fillings. Tasted juicy and great. It would be even better if the buns were hot and crispy on the outside. George claimed that their Heart Attack burger is better as they embed it with crispy pork lard. Will try out that next time! :)
Matang's Honey Chicken Wings (RM2.50/wing). We did not expect much, but turned out to be quite good! Nicely BBQ sweet-tasting wings.

Colugos Bistro & Grill

Refurbished into a bistro, Colugos is a new foodie outlet in Tun Jugah Mall, offering Western, Indonesian and Local Cuisines.
There are quite a number of attractive choices, here were a couple of dishes we ordered:
Colugos Grill Chicken (RM13.90). Boneless whole chicken leg grilled with their homemade seasonings and comes with fries and coleslaw.
The Man Burger (RM15.90). Very nicely served with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The huge burger comprises of cheese, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, beef bacon and a thick juicy patty.
Stir Fry Broccoli Tahu (RM10.00). A dish that is not western for our dinner.
The Mexican Mackerel (RM 18.90). Pan grilled mackerel fillet which was served with mojito salsa and with some seasonal veggies and Indo Mash.
Thai By Mango Seabass (RM18.90). Pan Grilled Seabass topped with their homemade mango salsa and served with their Indo Mash, some side veggies.
BBQ Roasted Half Chicken (RM18.90). The chicken was oven roasted to perfection, pertaining its juiciness and tenderness! The sauce given was sweet and spicy which complements really well with the chicken! Yummy! Came with their spicy mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The mashed potatoes were kinda different from the usual one. It's called Indonesian Mash. Did not quite like it cos of the over-onionly taste.
Rosemary Lamb Shank (RM32.90). Braised in Rosemary Herbs and served with Indo Mash and Seasonal Veggies too. To me, the lamb was good as the meat was tender, but taste-wise was rather bland. I would prefer it to be richer.
So far, the food was rather good and we were charged reasonably. We would be back again.

After the morning walk for food and clothes, we headed back to our hotel to get some rest before we went down to Siam Square for branded and local designer clothes.

Cheese Burger. Slurpps~~ The bun was so soft with a slightly crispy crust. The patty was not just ordinary patty, but fragrantly black-pepper marinated beef meat was used!
Pork Cutlet Burger. Yummy!! No way we can get pork burgers in Malaysia's Fast Food Restaurants. Real pork meat was deep-fried and flavored with their juicy and tasty sauce!

We came across Krispy Kreme which sells very tempting-looking donuts and so we grabbed a few of them.
We got ourselves the Original Glazed (27 Baht each), White Chocolate with Cheese and Creme Brule (35 Baht each). All tasted heavenly! Best doughnuts ever!!

MOS Pork Burger!
A long day of shopping and we were too tired to walk back to our hotel with bags of clothes. So we got a ride back with Tuk-Tuk. Left our stuffs in the room and off we went for supper! Kept trying out new hawker delights in Bangkok.
Yum yum yum~~ Each skewer for 10 Baht only!
Grilled Sotong! Lovely!
Banana Cheese Roti Canai with Chocolate Sauce. The hawker stall operator happened to speak to us in Malay. LOL! Shocked~
Mango Salad (45 Baht). I asked for reduced spicy level. Hehe~
