Another breakfast spot @ Woon Lam Cafe

Woon Lam Cafe, located opposite the old Upwell in town, just behind Secret Recipe, has been there for ages. There are quite a number of local hawker stalls in the coffee shop selling decent Sarawakian breakfast varieties. It's been a long time since I stepped into the place. The place is famous for the Kueh Chap, Laksa and also Cha Kueh. George went for the Kueh Chap and for me, not wanting to have such a heavy breakfast, I opt for Popiah and Cha Kueh which I shared with George.
Cha Kueh. Having it served in 2 flavors - sweet and salty. Nice!
Popiah. Not a bad choice either.
Kueh Chap. Rich in taste. Not bad too.

Song Corner Breakfast Choices

Served with good breakfast choices, we opt for Popiah, Spicy salted Cha Kueh and Fried Noodles.
Not bad..

Considered one of the good Cha Kuehs you can find in Kuching, but quite expensive for this portion for RM5.

RM4 for this. Rather expensive and tasted just ok.

Melaka Food Hunt #9: Jonker Street

After all the non-stop eating journey, we decided to walk our way to Jonker Street from Capitol Satay Celup. Burn some calories yea~
Melaka's Old Street. Somehow looks like Kuching's Carpenter Street. Heritage feel~~
Finally got to the busy Jonker Street. Someone was thirsty~~
The crowd was no joke!
Some classic entertainment probably.
Toys for sale
Kuih. We bought the Ondeh-ondeh which looked so tempting and planned to have it later. Being too full, we totally forgotten about it and only realized that it was spoilt the next morning. Sad :(

We tried out this Fruit Tea. Not bad.
If I wasn't that full, I would have tried this.
Very tempting grilled Sotong.

The famous Jonker 88 for Malacca's Cendol.
Cendol with lots of Gula Melaka.
I got myself the Durian Cendol. Preferred the original flavor thou.
Other local foods and snacks available.

Taste Better's Durian Puff. So yummy! Generous filling of durian-flavored cream and durian meats could be tasted as well.
It's getting dark!
Geographer Cafe
Christine EE, just opposite Geographer Cafe situated on the small alley. Selling very good pineapple tarts!
Whoa~ Hot steaming dim sums~~ Slurpps~~~ If we were not so full~~~

They just couldn't resist 臭豆腐 Stinky Tofu. They claimed that it was good. I did not try. Just too full~
Could only tried this Egg-shaped Ice Cream. Got myself the Yam Flavor. Yummeh~~ Excuse me for my sweaty oily face cos it's really that hot! I'm one person who usually do not sweat that much.
Find this very nice!
Lots of this beautiful lightened flower trishaw! Happy family! So random! Haha!
Oh~ Now just then I realize this is Cheng Ho's ship. Haha!
Walking back to our parking spot. Spotted this Orang Utan Mural. Does it look like one?? LOL!
It was approximately 10pm, so we missed our chance to Menara Taming Sari.. Stuck in the crazy Melaka jam later in the night. Had fun in the car thou.

How we spent our time in Melaka!!! Great moments just passed so fast!

Melaka Food Hunt #7: Baba Charlie Nyonya Cake

It was about 300pm in the afternoon, having nothing to do after eating at Hing Loong, we decided to hunt for authentic Nyonya Kueh. Before this, I came across blogs recommending Baba Charlie Nyonya Cake for serving one of the best Nyonya delights in Melaka. Being aware that the place would be close at 4pm, we seek for this hidden treasure. Although there is a signboard outside, we did not notice it as there are 2 alleys heading to the place and we went straight into the 1st one before seeing the sign. As we were not sure of the place, we eventually seek for directions from the neighbor who happened to be gardening while we walked inside. Felt stupid when we saw the close distance of Baba Charlie's house to the exit of the 2nd alley. It was so darn HOT!!
So here's the place!
They have the kuihs placed inside and we just have to pick what we like. Seemed that lots were finished as we were quite late.
Types of Nyonya Kueh for reference. We had Kuih Bingka Ubi, Rempah Udang, Kuih Kochi Putih, Nyonya Kuih Chang, Kuih Portugal Ubi, Kuih Talam, Kuih Lapis, Pulut Seri Kaya, Kuih Koo Hitam, Curry Puff and Apam Bekua. All the kuihs tasted so good to me. Best ever Nyonya Kuihs!!
They also had a couple of kuihs placed outside where people also make their payments here. For your information, they also do supplying to lots of kuih stores around Melaka.

Pullman Dim Sum Buffet

Priced at RM28+ per person, this Dim Sum Unlimited "All You Can Eat" buffet is definitely worth the value. Always wanted to try out the dim sums in Nv Er Hong, Pullman Hotel and finally had the chance to try out this reputable hotel standard dim sums. Came along with my whole gang of friends and we really ordered a lot.
Steamed Duo-Textures Chee Cheong Fun. With deep-fried Chinese Crullers or rather known as You Char Kueh/You Tiao in this Hong Kong style Chee Cheong Fun instead of meats, it was something new but we did not quite like it.
Soft BBQ Honey Chicken Bun. Love this sweet roasted chicken in the hot steaming soft pau! Lost count of how many I had. :)
Inside the bun. Just love it!
Deep-fried Beancurd Skin with Chicken & Prawn. Those who love deep-fried stuffs love this dish!
Deep-fried Crispy Yam Taro. The taro was smooth, outer skin was crispy, but it tasted rather odd (seemed like oil used was not so fresh).
Glutinous Rice with Chicken. Yummeh~~ Fragrant rice with chunky pieces of tender chicken slices,
Pan sear Shanghai Dumplings.
Vegetable Spring Roll. Damn crispy. I'm not quite a fan of deep-fried stuff, but it tasted rather good thou.
Deep-fried Sesame Ball. Tot that it was good, but.....
The red bean filling was too little. Unable to balance with the thick chewy outer skin.
Custard Bun "Liew Sha Bao". This was really really really FANTASTIC!!!! Oozing out custard!!! Gosh~
LOOK!
LOOK!!! Thick, juicy, creamy, rich custard flowing out!!
Deep-fried stuff which I forgot what was it. :P
Forgotten what was this also. Hehe~
Phoenix Claw with Black Bean Sauce. Nicely stewed Chicken Feet!
Crystal Prawn Dumpling. Crunchy, big and fresh prawns used! Delicious!
Beancurd Roll with Thai Sauce. Okok la~
Steamed Chicken Cheong Fun. This was good as compared to the Duo-Texture one as the chicken meat was sweet and flavorful and it was deliciously served in the soft Cheong Fun accompanied with the Sambal Sauce.
Baked mini egg tart. Average, can be improved.
Pan-fried radish cake with shrimp Hong Kong style. Quite good.
Baked BBQ Chicken Pie. This was very delicious as well! Sweet savory BBQ Chicken in the crunchy-layered baked skin.

Pan-sear Radish Cake.
Pan-sear Chicken Bun with Vegetable.  Not too bad.
Chicken Congee with Century Egg. Serving hot, the congee was smooth and richly added with bits of century egg and chicken meat.
Homemade fish ball with fragrant garlic.
"Teochew" style Prawn Chicken Dumpling with Chives.
Pudding of the day - Santan flavored. Very soft with thick santan used.
Dessert of the day - Cheng T'ng (forgot to take photo of it). It was rather good.

The dim sums here are decent and one of the good ones you could find in Kuching. Most important, it is Halal. :) Will definitely come back again if I have the chance.
